Our stay at Kyo Anthu Inn was nothing short of perfect! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness by Emiko, making us feel at home right away. The rooms were immaculate, , and provided a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring. The homemade breakfast was a highlight—fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. Emiko and her mom Yoko went above and beyond to help us navigate the city, offering fantastic recommendations and helping us with reservations for local restaurants. The location was ideal, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood yet conveniently close to public transportation and major attractions like Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizu-dera. After a long day of touring Kyoto, coming back to this cozy and welcoming place felt like returning to a home away from home. Emiko and her father drove us to a restaurant and later to the Kyoto train station on the morning we left the city. She even walked us to the subway station on our first day out in the city. If you’re looking for an authentic, warm, and memorable Kyoto experience, Emikos place is an absolute gem. We can’t wait to return!

Emiko-san and her family were absolutely wonderful hosts. While Kyoto is undeniably a stunning city, half of the cherished memories I’ll take from this trip are thanks to Emiko and her family’s warmth and hospitality. We stayed for two nights and deeply regretted not extending our visit. On our second night, we returned to the inn drenched from a downpour. Emiko and her mom went above and beyond, helping us wash and dry our soaked clothes, even using their personal laundry machine to ensure everything was clean and dry. They also kindly allowed us to store our luggage after checkout and even gave us a ride to the train station, making our departure seamless and stress-free. Their kindness and generosity truly set them apart. If you’re a considerate traveler seeking a welcoming and heartfelt experience, I wholeheartedly recommend staying at their inn. It’s more than just accommodation—it’s a chance to connect with truly wonderful people.

I'm so sad we only stayed here one night. The hosts were so nice and made everything feel easy while we were there. We just needed one more night in Kyoto and this place was so much better than the first place we spent most of our time. The room was small, but just what we needed. There was good tea and when we realized we had missed printing a ticket that required a hard copy they printed it for us quickly and made sure we had it right away. I loved the breakfast here. It was a nice mix of things and they let us sit in the larger room since no one was staying in it when we were there. We will for sure try to make it back to this location when we make it out to Japan again!

I was so sad to leave this inn. Emiko (the host) is so on top of everything, so friendly, speaks perfect English. She helped us send our bags in advance to Tokyo, gave us amazing restaurant recommendations, and made us feel right at home. The room itself is incredibly comfortable and perfectly designed/optimized. We also loved the breakfast as an easy way to start our day before exploring the city. The location is in a cute neighborhood with easy subway and bus access. We loved the location. I would never stay anywhere else in Kyoto, can’t recommend enough. Thank you emiko and family!

Isabella

Absolutely delighted with our stay. Emiko-san is an amazing host and gave us lots of recommendations for local travel and amenities. She even helped us to the correct metro station platform for our next destination on our last day. The room was lovely and quiet, and plenty of amenities provided. The area was fab as it was well-connected for travel on public transport, but away from the tourist hotspots so it was quiet. Nearby are lots of convenience stores and a whole variety of restaurants - we tried a different place every night. We would 100% stay here again if visiting Kyoto.
